Jodhi Meares finds her slice of heaven – a dream house in Hawaii
Recently our property blog has learnt that former Mrs James Packer, Jodhi Meares has bought a property on one of the world’s most sensational strips of sand.
While not willing to divulge details on her upcoming projects, Meares said her new property is right on the sand at Pipeline Beach, famous the world over for the surf reef break, Banzai Pipeline.
“It’s halfway between New York and Australia and I fell in love with Hawaii a long time ago,” she said.
“It’s my dream house, to tell you the truth.” Meares, a keen surfer, plans to make Hawaii her property in January.
The creative director of swimwear label Tigerlily has spent a lot of time in the central Pacific this year while working on a bikini campaign with Aussie catwalker Pania Rose.

Boxer Anthony Mundine cops hit on retreat
In the latest property blog celebrity news, Anthony Mundine has lost money on his Central Coast holiday resort after selling the property last week to the Salvation Army.
Mr Mundine had hoped to turn Dooralong Valley property, which he bought for $5.5 million last July.
Residents had threatened legal action after reports that Mundine’s consortium – which included lawyer Adam Houda and Bulldogs’ star Hazem El Masri – planned to develop to turn the property in to a youth rehabilitation centre and mosque, which residents feared would disrupt the tranquil valley, according to a report in The Daily Telegraph.
However the threats never came to fruition as Mr Mundine last week sold the property for an undisclosed amount following the exit of El Masri from his board of directors.
McGrath Estate Agent’s Stuart Davies said the undisclosed price was “in line with current market conditions” and less than what the previous buyers paid.
The properties facilities include 45 cottages, a salt water pool, sand volleyball court, a golf driving range, tennis courts and conference rooms.
The Salvattion Army’s major Glenn Whittaker said the charity was yet to decide how the property would be used.
$35,000 to tour Bill Gates’ house
In the latest celebrity property news each summer as part of Microsoft’s charitable giving campaign, people at the company donate products, services and experiences for their fellow employees to bid on.
The item that typically fetches the highest bid is a tour of Gates’ Lake Washington property for the winner and a small group of friends, guided by Gates himself.
After the tour of the 48,000-square-foot complex, which is located outside Seattle, the winner gets to nosh on some appetizers, TechFlash reports.
A year ago, the same tour, of the same house, fetched just $8,600. This year, with things starting to rebound, the bidding rose to $35,000.
No word on who was willing to pay that much, but If you want to buy Bill Gates’s property, you’ll need something like $150 million.
Tom Cruise rumored to buy Sea Cliff Property
In the latest Celebrity Property News rumors are flying that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have bought a Sea Cliff property on the down low, after Socket Site floated a tip they got last Friday. The 5-bedroom home at 300 Sea Cliff Ave. had previously been one of the San Francisco’s most expensive homes — at one point having been listed for $25.9 million.
It recently went for $18 million, with the rumor attached that none other than Mr. Cruise was the buyer, though Socket Site also wonders whether their tipster is “pulling our leg.” In any case, The Real Estalker has discovered that the buyer is one Tawaraya LLC, a high-end accounting firm in Walnut Creek that serves “a small number of ultra high net worth individuals.”
The plot thickens! (Though given the $18 million price tag on the house, that shouldn’t be surprising.) A few contortions of logic later, and the blog suggests that the buyer might also be one Oracle CEO Larry Ellison. Don’t keep us so hot in anticipation, truth diggers! Robin Williams wants to know who his new neighbor is too.
Whitney Houston’s New Jersey mansion for sale

Whitney Houston’s New Jersey estate, where she married Bobby Brown in 1992, is for sale with an asking price of $2.5 million.
The five-bedroom contemporary home sits on a five acre lot with a pool, an adjacent pool house and a tennis court.
The Real Estalker says that Houston bought the home in 1987 and it appears very 1980s in its style with a circular theme that includes a domed sky light, semicircular walls of windows and a curved wall of art glass.
The home is over 12,500 square feet of curving windows draped in lackluster swags, floors in neutral carpeting and pale terracotta tile and anonymous decor.
In the master bedroom the bed is mounted on a dais facing a television and topped with more circles in the lighting fixture.
