Experience the Essence of Rosé at Lake George Winery

post-header

Covering 300 acres and offering RU1 zoning, Lake George Winery is a spectacular investment opportunity. Priced at a reserve of $4.97m and having a DA approval for events of up to 10,000 people, this beloved venue in the capital region is up for grabs at a compelling value.

Frank Walmsley from Auction Advantage, the listing agent, stated that this renowned property represents an incredible lifestyle and business opportunity.

“Lake George Winery has rarely been offered for sale over its 50-year history, and in 2023 the current owner is ready to exit following a change in family circumstances and are seeking a new owner who will love this regional icon as much as they have done,” Walmsley said.

Situated a mere 30 minutes away from the nation’s capital, Canberra, Lake George Winery holds a revered place on the cool-climate wine trail as a prestigious winery, cellar door, wedding and accommodation venue.

“From Sydney Harbour Bridge to the front door, the only red you’ll see on the way to the Lake George Winery is an award-winning shiraz. Yes, not a single traffic light,” said Walmsley.

The property of Lake George Winery includes 20 acres of vineyard, a variety of fruit trees, a respected restaurant and cellar door, an operational winery, accommodation, an event space frequently used for weddings and celebrations, and a four-bedroom main residence.

The dining room can accommodate up to 120 guests, who can enjoy a meal prepared in the fully-equipped kitchen while appreciating the rustic polished floorboards, an open fireplace, and large windows that offer a scenic view of the vineyard. A more intimate dining area in the form of a wine cellar and museum, featuring a rock wall and subtle lighting, is situated downstairs and can seat an additional 50 diners.

The vineyards are home to 11 different grape varieties. Lake George wines have received several accolades over the years, including TOPGOLD for its Chardonnay at the Canberra Region Wine Show and a 4.5-star venue rating by wine reviewer James Halliday.

“Lake George Winery, a dry-grown site on what was once the Westering vineyard, celebrated its 50th vintage in 2023. There’s a sense of rejuvenation and renewal thanks to the dedication of owner Sarah McDougall,” James Halliday noted.

“In 2018, she and her late husband Anthony took ownership and set about improving the growing practices, eschewing herbicides and embracing sustainability,” he added.

As a result, Sarah has ensured that Lake George Winery is prepared for future generations to cherish and nurture.

Lake George Winery is set to be auctioned on-site on Friday, July 23, 2023. Interested parties are invited to contact Frank Walmsley from Auction Advantage for more information.
