Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) has granted approval for a striking heritage-inspired residential development in Bowen Hills, situated on the northern fringe of Brisbane’s central business district. The collaborative project by Cintra Property and Core Property Partners will see the transformation of a 4,092 square meter site at 23-39 Abbotsford Road into 122 high-end apartments. These luxury dwellings will span across two eight-storey buildings, all interlinked by a beautifully restored heritage-listed residence, promising a seamless blend of history and modern living. The centrepiece of this development is the historic house from the 1870s, embodying the fusion of Brisbane’s rich past with a vibrant future. According to Nathan Andersen, Managing Director of Core Property Partners, The Abbotsford will redefine luxury living only 3km away from the CBD, amidst a suburban setting renowned for its grand historic residences.
“‘The Abbotsford has the incredible advantage that comes with having Brisbane’s best food, retail and entertainment precincts on its doorstep, while maximising the outlook and views that comes with its elevated location,” Andersen remarked.
Highlighting the focus on preservation, Andersen detailed how the heritage residence, over 150 years old, will undergo meticulous restoration to serve as the nucleus of the two boutique buildings. This historic building will bridge the residential spaces with common recreational areas and landscaped gardens sprawled across the ground level.
“This emphasis on lifestyle and wellness continues on both rooftops, which feature their own entertainment areas with pools, yoga lawns and open spaces to take in the outstanding views,” Andersen added.
Spearheaded by the distinguished DKO Architecture, the design of the two residential buildings not only celebrates the historical significance and elevation of the site but also reflects Brisbane’s contemporary sub-tropical lifestyle. Boasting spacious interiors, these two and three-bedroom apartments come equipped with expansive living areas, study zones, and oversized balconies, intentionally oriented to ensure maximum privacy and breathtaking views.
Andersen underscored the significance of The Abbotsford’s locale within the Bowen Hills Priority Development Area, emphasising its proximity to major transport links and a plethora of the city’s best entertainment, dining, and retail precincts. Positioned strategically opposite the Bowen Hills train station and a stone’s throw from the RNA Showgrounds and Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, residents will have unparalleled access to the city’s finest amenities.
“Residents will enjoy access to the city’s best entertainment, dining and retail precincts, from the precincts of James Street, Gasworks and King Street, to the culture and commerce of the CBD itself,” Andersen concluded.
