James Pattinson, a former Australian Test fast bowler, and his wife Kayla are selling their Elwood family home as they embark on a new chapter in their lives โ€“ a career in building.

Pattinson, who made his Test debut in 2011, has completed a building apprenticeship and is eager to put his skills to use. The couple is currently building their dream home and has listed their existing residence at 65 Ruskin St, Elwood, with a price guide of $2.9 million to $3.15 million.

“It has been a really nice family home, it’s got everything,” Pattinson said. “It’s sad to see it go but we’re in the game of building and moving into places now so, you can’t keep them all.”

The four-bedroom Edwardian home, renovated by the Pattinsons themselves, seamlessly blends its classic character with modern touches, featuring red brickwork, a blackbutt timber ceiling, and spacious open-plan living areas with a fireplace and built-in banquette.

Situated in Elwood’s vibrant beachside location, the property offers families a relaxed and convenient lifestyle, close to parks, playgrounds, cafes, restaurants, reputable schools, and excellent public transport options.

Chris Hassall, Director at Buxton Bentleigh, praised the quality of the home’s renovation, stating, “They didn’t just renovate the home to sell it, they did it for themselves; they pumped a lot of money, time and thought into the build. You’ve got the comfort of knowing that they did it properly.”

The property also boasts a modern kitchen with high-end appliances, a study nook, a butler’s pantry, a bar area, and a separate studio with a bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen above the rear garage.
