Interior design expert Justine Wilson has unveiled the top five home styling trends for Spring 2024, along with budget-friendly tips to achieve these looks.

Wilson, founder of Vault Interiors, emphasised that creating a stylish home doesn’t have to be expensive.

“By incorporating these trends with a bit of creativity and resourcefulness, you can transform your home into a spring haven without overspending,” Wilson said.

The first trend highlighted is the use of natural elements and earthy tones. Wilson suggests incorporating terracotta, soft greens, and rich browns with organic textures like rattan, jute, and wood.

To achieve this look on a budget, she recommends DIY decor projects, thrift store shopping, and adding affordable houseplants.

Sustainable and eco-friendly design continues to be a priority for 2024. Wilson advises upcycling old furniture, shopping second-hand, and investing in energy-efficient upgrades.

Maximalist patterns and bold colours are making a comeback. Wilson suggests focusing on a few key statement pieces, creating DIY art, and using affordable fabrics for cushion covers or throws.

A vintage and retro revival is also on trend, with styles from the 70s and 80s resurging. Budget-friendly tips include scouring flea markets and garage sales, mixing vintage with modern pieces, and repurposing old furniture.

The fifth trend focuses on enhancing outdoor living spaces. Wilson recommends building pallet furniture, using solar-powered lights, and investing in weather-resistant rugs and cushions to create cozy outdoor areas.

These trends come as many Australians are concerned about the rising cost of living, making budget-friendly home styling options particularly relevant.

Wilson’s advice demonstrates that it’s possible to stay on-trend and refresh home decor without significant financial outlay, by emphasising creativity, DIY projects, and smart shopping.
