Abadeen Group and PERIFA have secured approval for their $240 million mixed-use development, Putney Wharf Residences, set to transform the historic Halvorsen Boat Building facility in Sydney’s northwest.

The project, located 14km from Sydney’s CBD, will feature:

  • 67 luxury apartments and townhouses
  • Waterfront dining and retail spaces
  • A 36-berth marina
  • 300 metres of waterfrontage

Joe Tack, Chief Operating Officer of Abadeen Group, highlighted the project’s significance:

“This is a unique opportunity to revitalise, restore and breathe new life into a significant waterfront parcel of land, delivering a premium lifestyle-oriented wharf precinct within which all of Sydney will want to live, dine, entertain and socialise,” Mr Tack said.

PERIFA Managing Director and Co-Founder Fabrizio Perilli emphasized the development’s importance to their portfolio:

“Putney Wharf Residences represents a flagship development for PERIFA as our first major prestige harbourfront mixed-use development in Sydney,” Mr Perilli said.

Designed by SJB architects in collaboration with heritage consultants Curio Projects and landscape architects Dangar Barin Smith, the development will comprise three residential components:

  1. Boatshed Apartments: 19 oversized apartments in the restored heritage-listed Halvorsen’s Boatshed
  2. Waterview Terraces: 18 three-storey, four-bedroom terraces
  3. The Residences at Putney Wharf: 30 apartments in two new-build three-storey buildings

Prices are expected to start from $1.9 million for a two-bedroom apartment, $3.5 million for a three-bedroom apartment, and $3.9 million for a four-bedroom terrace.

Mr Tack emphasized the project’s historical significance:

“With such a rich history having been the home to Sydney’s most successful and prolific boat building business established in 1939 by the Halvorsen family, we feel a sense of pride in restoring, preserving and celebrating a significant piece of Sydney’s boating history,” he said.

Construction is set to begin immediately, with completion expected by 2027. The development marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration between Abadeen and PERIFA aimed at transforming urban landscapes.
