Stowe Australia adopts cloud solution for major technology upgrade

Australia’s largest privately-owned electrical and communications contractor, Stowe Australia, has implemented its largest technology rollout to date, adopting Autodesk Construction Cloud across its business operations.

The cloud-based construction solution aims to improve agility, collaboration and data-driven efficiencies throughout the company.

Matt Fern, Digital Engineering Manager at Stowe Australia, said the move was driven by a need to centralise knowledge and make it accessible across teams.

“Companies of our size simply have to learn how to leverage their data better, or they’ll become redundant. We want everyone in the company to be using this — we want everyone to be in the same sandpit,” Mr Fern said.

Key points of the implementation include:

  • Creation of a “Common Data Environment” to leverage data across project operations
  • Centralisation of the “source of truth” for company information
  • Reduction of data silos by replacing multiple point solutions with a single platform

Sumit Oberoi, Senior Manager of APAC Construction Strategy & Partnerships at Autodesk Construction Cloud, said the platform will help Stowe “reduce risk, maximise efficiencies and increase profits.”

Stowe Australia, which has used Autodesk technology since 2005, began adopting Autodesk Construction Cloud in 2021. The implementation was supported by ARKANCE, who helped create a proof of concept over approximately 12 months.

The adoption of this cloud-based solution represents a significant step in Stowe’s 100-year history, moving from reliance on employee knowledge to a centralised, data-driven approach.
