The 2024 Riverina Housing Awards, recognising excellence in residential building and design, are set to take place this Friday in Wagga Wagga.

The event, organised by the Housing Industry Association (HIA), will celebrate the achievements of local builders over the past year and mark two decades since the formation of the HIA’s Wagga Branch.

Greg Weller, HIA Executive Director for ACT & Southern NSW, said, “The Riverina housing awards are start of a journey than can lead entrants through to the Australian Housing Awards, which are held in May 2025.”

The awards program aims to acknowledge quality workmanship and innovative design in residential building.

Weller noted that Riverina builders have historically performed well at the ACT and Southern NSW awards, which serve as a pathway to the national program.

Local Wagga Branch Chair Martin Keogh highlighted the significance of winning an HIA award, stating, “to win an award through HIA, which is judged by a panel of your peers, is a great honour.”

Keogh emphasised the importance of the awards for builders and designers, saying, “Builders and designers take great pride in their work and look forward to the opportunity to put our projects out there in front of others from the industry.”

He added that the awards provide an excellent opportunity for industry professionals to compare their work and receive feedback from peers.

The 2024 HIA Riverina Housing Awards will be held at the Wild Vine in Oura on Friday, 13 September, starting at 6:30pm.

The event is expected to showcase the best of Riverina’s residential building and design talent, potentially paving the way for local builders to compete at the national level.
