Interior design is set to embrace bolder styles in 2025 as homeowners move away from minimalist aesthetics, according to new industry forecasts.
Interior design expert Ryan McDonough from MyJobQuote.co.uk said vibrant colours and diverse textures will dominate home décor next year.
Jewel tones like sapphire blue, emerald green and ruby red are expected to replace muted neutrals as feature colours.
The trend forecast highlighted cool metallics as a key element, with chrome, silver and nickel superseding warm golds and bronzes.
McDonough said textural elements will play a crucial role in 2025’s design landscape.
“Tactile elements are all about adding texture and sensory appeal to your home. By incorporating a variety of textures, you can create a visually interesting and comfortable space,” he said.
Biophilic design, which incorporates natural elements indoors, continues to gain momentum.
The report identified spa-like spaces as an emerging trend, reflecting growing emphasis on wellness in home design.
Ocean-inspired colours including greens, blues and teals are expected to feature prominently.
Curved furniture and organic shapes will become increasingly popular, particularly in living spaces.
The forecast also noted a surprising revival of retro elements, including the return of avocado bathrooms.
McDonough said vintage and retro styles, particularly from the mid-century modern, 70s and 80s periods, will make a significant comeback.
The report emphasized the growing popularity of seamless indoor-outdoor living spaces, achieved through sliding glass doors and coordinated furniture.
