A mid-century residence in Woollahra that recently housed Hollywood actress Rachel McAdams has been listed for sale with expectations of $16 million.

The Palm Springs-style home at 61A Wallaroy Road was built in 1959 and renovated by architect Iain Halliday of BKH.

McAdams reportedly stayed at the secluded five-bedroom house while filming the Sam Raimi-directed horror film “Send Help” in Sydney.

“It’s so cool, and right in the middle of Woollahra,” agent Alex Lyons said.

Sources indicated McAdams paid $14,500 per week to stay at the property during filming.

The actress is known for her roles in films including “Mean Girls,” “About Time,” “The Vow,” “Wedding Crashers,” “Doctor Strange” and “Disobedience.”

Owners Natasha Stanley and Kingsley Smith, who operate The London Hotel and China Diner in Bondi Beach, purchased the modernist house in 2018 for $6.55 million in an off-market transaction.

The property is now being marketed through Alex Lyons of Raine & Horne Double Bay/Bondi Beach and Maclay Longhurst of Sotheby’s International Realty Sydney, with expressions of interest closing May 2.

“The way it’s finished is incredible,” Lyons said.

“Then there’s the privacy down a long driveway, and that’s evidently why Rachel and other celebrities have chosen to stay at the home.”

The 930-square-metre property retains many original design elements while incorporating modern features.

Behind a signature red front door, the two-storey residence features a grand open-plan living and dining area with a double-height ceiling that opens to both a balcony and private patio.

The main level includes a Carrara marble kitchen with wolf appliances, two Miele dishwashers and a butler’s pantry.

Three bedrooms on this level each have built-in wardrobes and ensuites.

The lower level contains a guest bedroom with ensuite and a multipurpose media room that opens to the pool terrace and 13-metre heated pool, surrounded by established tropical gardens.

Modern features include heated bathroom floors, herringbone timber floors, ducted air conditioning, a Control4 smart home system, driveway sensors and parking for four cars.
