Mark McGoldrick from New Zealand has been crowned the 2025 Australasian Auctioneering Champion after a fiercely contested final in Adelaide.
McGoldrick edged out four other finalists – Jake McIntyre (Tasmania), Sam Steele (New Zealand), Robert Tulp (New Zealand), and Greg Brydon (Victoria) – in a competition that showcased exceptional skill and precision.
The prestigious AUSTROS championship, hosted by the Real Estate Institute of South Australia (REISA) and jointly convened by the Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA) and the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (REINZ), is considered the pinnacle event in the auctioneering calendar.
REIA President Leanne Pilkington praised the high calibre of competition at this year’s event.
“This competition continues to attract the best of the best across Australasia,” Ms Pilkington said. “Each competitor brought a unique style, and this year’s finalists demonstrated why this event remains the benchmark for excellence in auctioneering.”
The judges described this year’s field as one of the strongest in the event’s history, with finalists earning their places after winning their respective state and national titles.
The championship also featured an Australasian Novice Auctioneering competition, which drew 14 promising competitors.
Tama Emery from New Zealand claimed the novice title after delivering a confident and polished performance.
“The novice competition is set to become a favourite โ it’s a glimpse into the future of auctioneering,” Ms Pilkington said. “We were blown away by the standard.”
The judging panel commended all novice entrants for their professionalism and composure under pressure, highlighting the depth of emerging talent in the industry.
REISA CEO Andrea Heading congratulated McGoldrick and all participants in both competitions.
“The future of auctioneering is in very capable hands,” she said.
The AUSTROS championships continue to serve as a platform for celebrating technical excellence and industry leadership across Australia and New Zealand.
