Recent data from PropTrack reveals that the median house price in the Townsville region has surged by 24 per cent over the past year, reaching $570,000. The cheapest house currently on the market in Townsville is a three-bedroom highset home listed for offers over $399,000. However, for those willing to venture beyond the city, more budget-friendly options can be found within a couple of hours’ drive. In Ayr, the average home price is $340,000, while in Charters Towers it’s $250,000, and in Ingham, it’s $287,000.

Real estate agent Courtney Snowden commented, “It’s becoming increasingly challenging to find affordable properties in Townsville itself. However, if buyers are open to exploring nearby towns, there are still great deals to be found.”

Among these options is a property at 110 Eleventh Ave, Home Hill, listed for $150,000. The three-bedroom, one-bathroom home is being sold “as is” and sits on a fenced block of approximately 500 square metres. The house features an open plan living and dining area, a small kitchen, and a front sunroom. Although part of a non-functioning body corporate with the neighbouring duplex, the property offers potential for those looking to invest in a fixer-upper.

The property includes a front veranda, a large lounge, and an open plan kitchen and dining space. “It’s rare to find such a large block at this price point,” commented Snowden.
