The Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA) has announced the finalists who will compete in the Australasian Auctioneering Championship (AUSTROS) 2024, scheduled for May 15 in Hobart, Tasmania.
The event, which showcases the best auctioneering talent from Australia and New Zealand, will be part of the larger ANZ REIA 100 event, a celebration marking the REIA’s centenary.
REIA President Leanne Pilkington said, “AUSTROS is a platform that showcases the exemplary skills and professionalism of auctioneers from across Australia and New Zealand.”
Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (REINZ) Chief Executive Jen Baird emphasised the role of AUSTROS in highlighting the diverse talents fostered by Real Estate Institute memberships in both countries.
The Real Estate Institute of Tasmania Chief Executive Michelle Tynan noted the event’s extra significance, as the REIT hosted the inaugural championship in 1993.
“To be part of the continuing evolution of this competition and effect it has had on raising the standard of professionalism and elevating the value of the auction method as the most transparent sales process for vendors,” she said.
The AUSTROS 2024 finalists include auctioneers from South Australia, New South Wales, Tasmania, Victoria, Western Australia, Australian Capital Territory, and New Zealand.
Pilkington stressed the importance of honouring the industry’s collective achievements and the role of collaboration in REIA’s recent history.
“As we gather to commemorate the achievements of our industry, we also look forward to engaging in insightful discussions during the Centennial Congress,” she said.
