Justine Wilson, renowned stylist and owner of Vault Interiors, has shared her expert tips on how to infuse warmth into living spaces this winter using carefully curated accessories.

“During the colder months, it’s essential to transform your home into a cosy retreat,” Wilson said.
“By incorporating the right accessories, you can instantly elevate the ambiance and create a haven from the winter chill.”

Wilson’s top tips include layering textures such as chunky knits, faux fur and plush fabrics to add depth and cosiness, opting for warm ambient lighting, incorporating earthy tones into the decor palette, and bringing in natural elements like wood, stone and dried botanicals.

She also suggested displaying cherished mementos, family photos and personal artwork to add character and warmth, as well as investing in soft, cosy throws and blankets to keep warm during chilly evenings.

Adding rugs or carpets to floors can provide warmth and insulation, while infusing the home with inviting scents like vanilla, cinnamon or cedarwood using scented candles or essential oil diffusers can enhance the warmth of the space.

Installing layered curtains or drapes in heavy fabrics like velvet or thermal-lined curtains can add an extra layer of insulation and retain heat.

Finally, Wilson recommended creating inviting reading nooks with plush armchairs, soft cushions and warm throws, complete with a side table for a warm beverage and a good book for the perfect winter retreat.
