The Real Estate Institute of Victoria’s (REIV) Senior Auctioneer of the Year for 2023, Greg Brydon, is eagerly awaiting his role in auctioning off a stunning 7-star family home for the Good Friday Appeal. This auction, set to take place in Tarneit’s Alamora Community, marks the first time Brydon, a seasoned professional from Ray White, will lead the event for a property built by Henley Homes with land donated by Villawood Properties. The entirety of the auction proceeds will benefit The Royal Children’s Hospital, a cause close to Brydon’s heart, especially now as a father to a 16-month-old toddler. His personal connection to the healthcare sector, with both parents in medical professions, has deepened his resolve to maximize the fundraising efforts.

Brydon expressed his ambitious goal for the upcoming auction, aiming to surpass previous years’ impressive results. “I’d love to see a record broken in 2024,” Brydon said, recalling the auction’s record $1.082 million result in 2022 and the substantial $1.01 million achieved last year. The property on offer, Henley’s 38-square, two-storey, 4-bedroom Lily 352-D38 model from its Mainvue Collection, boasts no reserve, encouraging competitive bidding for the cause.

Highlighting the significance of the Good Friday Appeal, Brydon remarked on the impact of its longstanding efforts and his honor in contributing to the cause. “To be able to play just a small part on the day, is a real honour,” he said, emphasizing the community and generosity driving the event. The anticipation for the auction extends beyond the potential homeowners, as Brydon, aided by the experience of Adrian Butera, who led the auction for 13 years until 2020, aims to create an inclusive and enjoyable atmosphere for all attendees, expecting up to 1000 people at the auction street party.

The house itself is a testament to community spirit, with numerous tradespeople and suppliers donating their skills and materials. It features luxury appointments, professional landscaping, a grand master suite, and family-friendly amenities, including a sports surface and basketball ring.

Being chosen to lead the auction at the Good Friday Appeal represents a pinnacle moment for Brydon, further elevating the honor of his REIV Senior Auctioneer of the Year title. “It was an honour to be recognised as Senior Auctioneer of the Year in Victoria. It’s a great recognition in itself but for me, the joy of being able to call the GFA auction that surpasses any personal accolade,” said Brydon.

REIV President Jacob Caine echoed the sentiment of collective pride and support for Brydon’s role in the event. “REIV auctioneers are humbled and grateful to play a role in this fabulous initiative. Greg has our full support and we will be barracking for a record-breaking result,” Caine said, underscoring the industry’s backing for the charitable cause and its representative at the auction.
